Hello, I’m 3MVEE. the stage name of Dutch DJ and producer Marco Voorhout.
Early Years
I grew up in the village of Santpoort-Noord and attended secondary school at the Flevoschool in IJmuiden. My fascination with music began early. As a child I loved sitting behind the piano one of my favorite toys at the time and my grandfather immediately noticed I had a natural feel for it. Later, my father also played a big role in my musical development; he often played the guitar and a little keyboard, which inspired me even more.
My earliest heroes were Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, and many iconic artists from the 80s up to the present day. Music was always playing in our home.
Alongside music, I also developed a deep interest in technology, aviation and aerospace.
My first real encounter with DJing happened in August 2001 at the Racism “Beat-It” festival in Halfweg. I unexpectedly entered a DJ competition purely because someone asked if I wanted to join while I was waiting. I mixed “U Don’t Know Me” by Armand van Helden flawlessly, and the magical feeling I got that moment made something click:
this was what I wanted to pursue.
I walked away extremely proud.
At age 35 I gave my first true performance at community center De Dwarsligger during my birthday celebration, where I played together with three other DJs for people with intellectual disabilities. I later joined a DJ group at the North Sea Beach pavilion, where we even appeared on local radio station Seaport FM for promotion. I also performed as a guest DJ at Beach House Beach Inn in IJmuiden. After nine years this chapter ended, but the passion only grew.
During my childhood I listened to the radio constantly, recording Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, and pop and 80s music. In primary school I learned music through recorder lessons, later followed by keyboard lessons with Herman Smit from Hillegom first in a caravan in Haarlem and later at his home. That’s where I learned to read sheet music and play pieces by ear.
My passion has only grown ever since.
Career
My early DJ years began around 2004 in the club music scene.
I created my first curated compilation:
“Northern Spirit – The Spirit Within.”
In 2011 I released my 6th Dimensions of Trance mixes on Facebook, followed by an ode compilation to my Dutch DJ heroes:
Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Sander van Doorn, Marco V, Chuckie and Ferry Corsten.
On December 3rd, 2011, I competed in a DJ contest at Club Bobby’s in Uitgeest, performing under the name DJ Emvee finishing 3rd out of 10 participants, a moment I am still proud of.
Around the same period I founded my own small imprint:
Reactive Sound & Productions, including Reactive DJ Events for bookings.
In 2012 I released the emotional mix compilation Tomorrow Never Comes, expressing my feelings through music something that shaped me forever. Music became more than sound:
music became emotion.
Between 2010–2013 I visited Ibiza multiple times and created the Vibrant Ibiza compilations, capturing the true Ibiza atmosphere.
Shortly after, tragedy struck: my father passed away in 2013 after a rare illness. I searched for peace and found solace again in music.
A Dream Come True
Armin van Buuren
In 2016 another dream became reality: I participated as an extra in the official videoclip of
Armin van Buuren feat. Kensington – “Heading Up High”, filmed in the dome prison of Breda.
I met Armin himself and saw the video go worldwide.
That same year I visited A State of Trance 650 in Utrecht — another unforgettable milestone.
When I Found ‘Levels’ Before the World Did
I still remember the moment I first heard Avicii’s ‘Levels’ on YouTube long before it became a worldwide phenomenon.
Something in the melody instantly struck me. I said out loud: ‘This is going to be a hit.’
And it did.
That moment shaped the way I listen to music. It taught me to trust my instinct — to recognize potential before the world does.
It’s the same intuition I bring into every mix, every track selection, and every creative project within PulseSphere Music."*
Marco’s journey into the world of trance took a remarkable turn when he was selected as a featured extra in Armin van Buuren’s music video Heading Up High. The shoot took place inside the historic Dome Prison of Breda an intense, cinematic location where Marco, cast as an inmate, became a living part of the story the music aimed to tell.
The atmosphere on set was warm, professional, and highly inspiring. Marco had the chance to speak with Armin directly, spontaneously sharing a creative idea involving Armin’s daughter, and experiencing what it feels like to be part of a large-scale creative production. Kensington was relaxed, Armin was sharp yet friendly, and the entire crew radiated pure passion.
Some moments change your artistic compass forever and for Marco, this was one of them. The experience didn’t just inspire him; it gave him a real boost, an inner push to pursue his own path as a DJ and artist.
He was later invited to ASOT Utrecht 2016, confirming that this day had been more than just a cameo. It was a spark. A starting point. A memory that continues to fuel him to this day.
That emotion, that drive, and that boost live on in everything Marco creates: in his story-driven mixes, his uplifting and progressive journeys, and his own identity within PulseSphere Music. It was the moment he stopped simply listening to music and decided to become a part of it.
Lockdown Years
During the 2020 lockdowns the world stood still. I created the Emotion – Lockdown Albums, expressing sadness, hope, reflection and comfort. These mixes received heartfelt responses from listeners worldwide.
Current Projects
Today, I’m working on a new signature show:
ITAM – In Trance As Mission
A mission to connect people through Uplifting Trance, Progressive Trance and emotional energy.
I also created the Relax mixes in a 122 BPM style a personal, warm and laid-back interpretation.
Right now my focus lies mainly on:
Progressive House
Trance & Progressive Trance (138 BPM)
inspired by artists like John 00 Fleming.
I also maintain my artistic identity Marco Prebosco, dedicated to Progressive House, Melodic House & Techno.
Unreleased Work
I still plan to re-release my older community-center mixes featuring club hits from previous eras projects that deserve their place in my musical timeline.
Private Life
I have been together with Linda Voorhout-Roosloot for 16 years, and we’ve been married for 15. She is the mother of two wonderful daughters from a previous marriage, and my greatest support.
